U.S. siding against Israel on border with Lebanon

The U.S. is trying to get Syria to demarcate its border with Lebanon.  The goal, states Haaretz, is to get Israeli forces out of the Shaba Farms area.  Israel retains that area, as part of the Golan Heights that it captured in self-defense from Syria and annexed.  The UN happens to agree with Israel.  Syria does not claim it.  Hizbullah claims it for Lebanon. When the IDF evacuated from southern Lebanon, Hizbullah raised this claim as a pretext for continuing “resistance” against Israel.

Diplomats speculate that removing this pretext might get Hizbullah to end its militia or might mean Syria doesn’t want Hizbullah to have a militia.

Hizbullah would not disband its militia and would not cease its warfare against Israel.  Its war is religious motivated, not territorially.  Therefore, I think the speculation is a pretext for getting Israel out.

The U.S. effort seems part of the usual State Dept. policy against Israel, for otherwise it would put the matter as an effort to eliminate border disputes.  Suppose the UN and Israel are right?  Then just let Hizbullah know it is wrong.

No, the effort is part of Obama’s policy of colluding with enemies of the U.S. and Israel.  He may not care what happens to Israel.  Does he care that he is strengthening enemies of the U.S.?
