Posted on 17 March 2009 by Press

BEIRUT: The commercial office at the Iraqi Embassy in Lebanon organized a meeting on Tuesday with representatives of the various economic sectors to introduce them to the commercial shopping center that is going to open this July under the supervision of the Iraqi Union for Development and Investment in Baghdad. The center aims at marketing the Arab and international products in the Iraqi market. Ghazi Koraytem, president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Beirut and Mount Lebanon, believes this event is important because it opens the way for new jobs opportunities in Iraq. He added that the Lebanese private sector has a competitive edge over many companies in Iraq as the value of trade with this country reached $284 million in 2008, adding that Iraq is considered to be the third market for Lebanese-made goods. – The Daily Star
